The Doctor Reverend Larry H. Hilliard

Larry is a native of Mississippi.  He attended the University of Southern MS and graduated from William Carey College with a degree in Coaching and Sports Administration.  He coached football and basketball before entering seminary.  Larry graduated from Memphis Theological Seminary with a Master’s of Divinity Degree and returned to Memphis Theological to receive a Doctor of Ministry degree. Larry has served churches throughout Mississippi and in Texas where he served an inner-city mission church.  Larry is married to the Rev. Terry Lynn Hilliard. Larry considers his style of preaching to be about discipleship and life application of the scriptural teachings.  He punctuates his sermons with real life experiences and his own brand of humor.  It is not unusual for Larry to show a clip from a cartoon and follow it with a quote from anyone such as Jimmy Buffett to John Wesley to Jesus. Larry and Terry have 6 children; twins Christopher (and his wife Jo) and Nathaniel, Kaitlynn, Mary Beth, Liyuan, and Olivia plus a 2 year-old grandson, Zeke. Larry enjoys riding his motorcycle, reading, lifting weights, travel and laughing. As a family they enjoy playing softball, attending Southern Miss football games, boating, and riding in their 1975 Cadillac El Dorado convertible “Lucille”.

 

 

Reverend Terry Lynn Hilliard

Terry is a native of Texas and is glad to call Mississippi home today.  She graduated with a degree in Occupational Technology and Industrial Studies from the University of Houston.  She studied at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and graduated with a Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary.  She is currently working towards a Doctor of Ministry degree.  Terry has served churches in Texas and Mississippi and her ministries have included Christian Education, children and youth, and currently she is focusing on pastoral care.  She also served as pastor of First Pass Christian as well.  She loves spending time with her husband, Larry, as well as spending time with their children (see above).  She enjoys gardening, running, singing, and playing her mountain dulcimer as well as cruising with her family in "Lucille".
